Cordell Jackson

Howdy!

Rockabilly singer? Yeah that's me... my name? Cordell Jackson, born Miller.

I was born on the 15th of July, 1923 in Pontotoc, Mississippi. In 1943 it has nailed up me then after my wedding with William Jackson to Memphis, Tennessee.
Then till 1947 began so slowly my Rockabilly career and I tried with some record labels, as for example to come Sun Records under contract. Unfortunately, this has never clapped and thus I founded in 1956 my own label: Moon Records in I my first own single: Beboppers Christmas b/w rock and Rolling Christmas has published.
The best known tape under my label were All page and the Big Four which came, actually,
to Memphis to audition with Sun Records .Sie wanted as the sun and have landed with the moon In 1959 I have sold my equipment and have finished the production of Moon Records as an active label.
In of 70th and to the 80s I brought to life "Maxi Pearl", a Comedy Act as an alter ego to at that time in America confessed Country comedienne Minnie Pearl who has decided instead of on men always for money. Moreover,
I took one more song with the title: "Football Widow" on which is also to be heard even today during the football season in Memphis.
Besides I still produced a like a Christian radio transmission When then the big Rockabilly revival came in the 80th started to roll, I jumped up with and attained national as well as international fame. I have not least to owe, among the rest, "Tav Falco" and "Alex Chilton"
which played some of my pieces on concerts and invited me to play with members the volume between the sets. With new swing I took up some new pieces and brought to life Moon Records again. Today the records from my label are to be got hold asked collector's items and only very hard.
The nickname "Rockin Granny" was given me and to my brand names belong my hedge stream E guitar and my slope to mine like one says today old-fashioned prewar dress. I am amusing, unconventional and independent and still step in spite of my old age like one recites very in a juvenile manner and lively. In 1991 I appeared together with Brian Setzter for a Budweiser advertisement and had also a small minor part in "Great Balls of Fire".
After a long, music-full life I have closed after a long illness on the 14th of October, 2004 for good my eyes.
This was my Life Cordell Jackson
